For many of us, our homes are filled with cherished memories and hold a special significance beyond just being a place to live. As we age, most people prefer to remain in their own homes. However, without the right support, this can become challenging. Simple tasks that were once easy can become difficult, making it hard for many older individuals to care for themselves adequately at home.
Domiciliary care offers a wonderful solution for those who wish to continue living in their own homes but could benefit from additional support. With domiciliary care, you'll receive visits from dependable care assistants who can assist you in your daily activities according to your preferences and needs.
Domiciliary care means receiving care services in the comfort of your own home. Domiciliary care assistants make regular visits to your home, making the process more convenient and comfortable for you.
Domiciliary care covers various forms of assistance, including healthcare and social support, all tailored to your specific needs. A detailed care plan is created to outline your individual requirements, including the type and frequency of support needed, who will provide the care, records of care provided, your preferences, and the associated costs.
You can decide how many home care visits you receive each week and the duration of each visit, ranging from 30 minutes to several hours, day or night. Some individuals receive domiciliary care visits a few times a week, while others receive regular visits throughout the day.
Domiciliary care assistants can assist you with various tasks including
Personal care
Medication management
Household chores
Meal preparation
Errands
Accompanying you to appointments
When receiving domiciliary care, you have control over the type of support you receive. You can specify the assistance you require, ensuring that you maintain your independence. Our care assistants prioritize your preferences and only provide support with tasks you have requested, respecting your autonomy. Many people worry that receiving home care visits may compromise their independence. However, our approach ensures that you retain control over your care and receive assistance only with tasks you need help with.
Domiciliary care is a great option for those who need some extra help with their daily routines but prefer to stay in their own homes rather than moving to a care facility like a nursing home. Typically, people who opt for domiciliary care require moderate to minimal support. However, there are situations where more frequent assistance is necessary, especially for individuals dealing with serious health conditions or mobility issues. In such cases, live-in care might be a better fit.
At Donnette Support Care, we recognize how crucial personal care is for preserving dignity and fostering independence. Our personalized personal care services are designed to meet the unique needs of each of our clients, ensuring they feel comfortable and cared for in their own homes.
At DSC, we adhere to core values of compassion, respect, integrity, and excellence. We believe these values are crucial for providing top-quality care to our clients, and we make it a priority to uphold them in all aspects of our work.
Donnette Support Care is committed to ensuring that everyone receives the care that best suits their needs. Our Sitting Service offers round-the-clock support from personal care assistants, available twenty-four hours a day. This service involves two primary carers who share care responsibilities, providing continuous support throughout the day and night.
With our Sitting Service, you can rely on having assistance with both routine and unexpected needs. Our carefully chosen assistants are dedicated to delivering consistent, high-quality support, allowing you to maintain your independence and continue living at home comfortably.
What are Sitting Services?
Similar to Live-In Care, our Sitting Service provides continuous support throughout the day and night. However, unlike Live-In Care, your care assistants do not reside in your home. Instead, you receive two extended daily visits, each lasting 12 hours, with a day-care and night-care assistant available at all times. While they assist you with daily activities, they also respect your boundaries and understand if you prefer to handle certain tasks independently.
Each person's care package is tailored to their individual needs. A typical day may include:
Daytime:
- Personal care
- Medication assistance
- Laundry
- Local transportation
- Social outings
- Hobbies
- Meal preparation
Nighttime:
- Personal care
- Medication assistance
- Nutrition and hydration
- Companionship
- Addressing unexpected care needs
Who are Sitting Services for?
Our Sitting Service is designed for older individuals who wish to remain in their homes but require continuous care support. It's ideal for those who prefer not to have live-in caregivers but still need round-the-clock assistance. This service is particularly suited for individuals with higher care needs, while those with occasional care requirements may find domiciliary care more suitable.
At DSC, we are committed to providing essential support and care for your ongoing health needs, especially for conditions like cerebral palsy, dementia, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. Our services are tailored to help you maintain independence and achieve your health and wellness goals while remaining in the familiar surroundings of your home.
Live-in care involves a caregiver residing in your home with you, offering support during both daytime and Night-Time hours. The caregiver is entitled to breaks and requires suitable sleeping arrangements.
Having a live-in caregiver can greatly enhance various aspects of daily life. They assist with mobility, household chores, monitoring health changes, and attending medical appointments, allowing individuals and their families to maintain a relatively normal lifestyle.
Services provided by live-in caregivers include:
- Administering medication
- Personal care, such as bathing and dressing
- Accompanying you to medical appointments
- Meal preparation and grocery shopping
- Housekeeping and laundry
- Communication with medical professionals
- Assisting with mobility within the home
- Responding promptly to alerts or emergencies
With the assistance of our live-in caregiver, you can receive support comfortably within your own home, providing peace of mind to both you and your family.
